Briggs Chapter 8: Creativity in Video

March 20th, 2012 · No Comments · Briggs, Comm 361, Pat Carroll

As a journalist, you want to stay ahead of the curve and be reporting on the most up-to-date information. However, you don’t want to just be fresh, but you have to be accurate in order to maintain credibility and ultimately, your job.

Today, information can be shared in a matter of seconds and it’s important not only that you find creative ways to share the information while being accurate.

In Chapter 8 of “Journalism Next”, Briggs talks about how to tell and produce a great story through a high-quality video. Here is a list of the five shot method for video production and a video example:

  1. Close-up on the hands
  2. Close-up on the face
  3. Wide shot
  4. Over-the-shoulder shot
  5. Creative shot (use your imagination!)
